five trends to try in 2018

Happy New Year! 

January, here we are: The time of reflection + resolutions. 

The time we all hope for a reset of our mind, body, spirit, & closet? Yes! 

That being said - I've had my eye on a handful of trends for the past few months that I am so eager to try in 2018. All of these trends are fairly simple & easy ways you can update your wardrobe for spring from head to toe!

{ r a i n b o w }  Starting with the boldest & my most favorite. Yep, those striped sweaters that were in every Gap ad in the 2000s are back & cooler than ever. Personally, I'm crushing on a more over-sized, chunkier version like this one from Urban Outfitters. So bright & happy! What's not to love?

{ f a n n y  p a c k s } Confession: I want a fanny pack. Or "belt bags" as the designers say. Another great comeback. These are truly a refreshing update to the hands-free crossbody styles that pretty much every woman owns by now. Also a fun way to add personality to your outfit via your accessories. Statement necklace? Nah, try a fanny pack!  

{ t o n e - o n - t o n e } This trend is by far the easiest to give a try with what you already own! The trick here is to layer multiple garments of the same color, but vary the tones (i.e. the photo above includes cream, camel, & chestnut - all members of the brown color family). The best example of this was when Meghan Markle (American Actress & Prince Harry's new fiance) wore a very similar tone-on-tone look on Christmas in London. Perfection!

{ s i l k  s c a r v e s } This is definitely more of a street style trend than a commercial trend. Whether yours is a family heirloom passed down from your Grandmother or a vintage treasure you found while thrifting (I have both!), the story is what makes it special. Twist it around your neck, your handbag, your wrist, or wear it as a belt! Points for creativity. Silk scarves add a feminine, timeless touch to any ensemble.

 

{ w h i t e  b o o t s } I'll admit I didn't automatically love this trend, but it has completely grown on me. While decades ago, white boots were associated with go-go dancers, today they are a the perfect addition to every fashionista's shoe collection. Matte white boots are everywhere from Tibi to Target - score! They are a fresh, fun way to stay warm this spring. Still not convinced?
