color crush: lavender

Ladies & Gents: I've got a crush.

Unless you've been living under a sartorial rock, you know by now that the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year is Ultra Violet. I love everything about this deep, mysterious color, which is indeed - my favorite color!

 

Ultra Violet represents creativity, spirituality, imagination, meditation, vision, compassion, & kindness to name a few. What a fabulous way to ignite these ideas, none-other than through our wardrobes.

However - I think we can all agree this will be gorgeous in our closets come Fall/Winter. But for Spring/Summer, there is no denying that the color of the moment is Ultra Violet's little sister: Lavender.

 

 

I have been curating images for months of it-girls rocking this pastel hue in a very bold way at NY, Paris, London, & Stockholm fashion weeks. Think statement coats, monochromatic dressing, and luxe fabrics like velvet & feathers.

 

To style it for warmer/wetter weather - lavender is just the color you need for a trench coat or a satin slip dress.

 

 To elevate the look, styling with metallic, white, or PVC accessories is the way to go. Shiny silver shoes or a patent bag add the perfect edgy layer to this innocent hue.

 

Some pieces I'm eyeing for my own closet:

 

(Free People) The One Tank - Perfect to pair with mom jeans & Birkenstocks for a laid back vibe.

 

(Target) Sleeveless Slip Dress - I'd wear this with white booties now & tights in the fall!

 

(H&M) Suede Shoulder Bag - This would be the perfect pop for a white sundress!

 

Keep in mind this color makes a statement, so keeping it simple is your best bet. Keep hair & makeup light & breezy. Contrast your look with complimentary shoes & bags, but really let the lavender shine! This color looks beautiful on all skin tones & is guaranteed to make you feel fresh & airy for summer!
